For summer, choose lightweight models made of breathable fabric with a high level of ultraviolet protection (UPF). For the mid-season (autumn/spring), a membrane suit that protects against rain and wind will be ideal. Winter suits should be insulated (fleece, thermal cotton, or synthetic fillers) and designed for extremely low temperatures, taking into account a low-mobility state.
Suits made of PVC or rubberized fabric provide 100% protection from water, but they do not “breathe” at all, which causes a greenhouse effect during movement. Membrane suits are more advanced: they do not let water in, but they allow the body to evaporate excess moisture, providing comfort throughout the day.
Fishing clothing should not fit the body tightly. When choosing, keep in mind that you will wear thermal underwear or a fleece jacket under the suit. Choose a size so that you can squat, bend, and cast the rod freely without feeling restricted in the shoulders or knees.
A flotation suit has a special multilayer filler with positive buoyancy. In case of falling into the water, it helps the angler stay on the surface and protects against hypothermia for a certain time. This is a critically important piece of equipment for fishing on thin ice or from a boat during the cold season.
Pay attention to the presence of taped seams, adjustable cuffs on the sleeves and trousers, as well as reinforced inserts on the knees and elbows. A large number of pockets with water-resistant zippers will allow you to keep the necessary small items (phone, documents, lure boxes) close at hand without being afraid of getting them wet.
