A jig head is a weight (usually made of lead) with a single hook embedded in it. It is essential for rigging soft plastic lures, providing the necessary weight for casting and creating the characteristic "hopping" or "stepping" retrieve (jigging retrieve) along the bottom of the reservoir.
The weight depends on the depth, current strength, and retrieval speed. A basic rule: add 1-2 grams for every meter of depth. In a strong current, the weight can be doubled, and in still water, it can be reduced to clearly feel the lure hitting the bottom.
The hook size (e.g., #1, #2/0, #4/0) must correspond to the size of your soft plastic lure. The tip of the hook should exit roughly around the middle of the lure's body, ensuring an effective hookset.
Our assortment includes jig heads with various hook shapes (e.g., Round Bend, Jig Hook) and different lure-holding mechanisms (barbs, "collar"). All are made of quality steel to ensure sharpness and strength.
A correctly chosen jig head allows you to clearly feel its fall to the bottom (contact with the bottom) between the reeling stages, ensuring a controlled and effective "hopping" retrieve.
