A jig head is a weight (usually made of lead) with a single hook mounted within it. It is essential for rigging soft plastic lures, providing the necessary weight for casting and creating the characteristic "hopping" or "stepping" animation (jig retrieve) along the bottom of the water body.
The weight depends on the depth, current strength, and retrieval speed. A basic rule is: add 1-2 grams for every meter of depth. In a strong current, the weight can be doubled, while in still water, it should be reduced to feel the lure hit the bottom clearly.
The hook size (e.g., #1, #2/0, #4/0) should correspond to the size of your soft plastic lure. The hook point should exit approximately halfway down the lure's body, ensuring an effective hookset.
Our assortment features jig heads with various hook shapes (e.g., Round Bend, Jig Hook) and different lure retention mechanisms (barbs, "collar"). All are made of quality steel to ensure sharpness and strength.
A correctly chosen jig head allows you to clearly feel its fall to the bottom (contact with the bottom) between the reeling stages, ensuring a controlled and effective "hopping" retrieve.
