It all depends on your conditions. PVC boats are mobile, they are easy to transport in a car trunk and store in an apartment. They are ideal for hard-to-reach places. Aluminum boats are much stronger, more durable, and more stable on the water, but they require a trailer and a special place for storage.
Rowing models are usually lighter, have a flat bottom, and are intended for small bodies of water. Motor boats are equipped with a stationary transom (mount for the engine) and often have an inflatable keel, which allows them to hold course confidently and get on plane at high speed.
The main rule is to avoid overinflating the tubes (especially in the sun, when the air expands) and to use protective strakes on the tubes and keel. We also recommend purchasing a special cockpit mat (EVA mat), which will protect the bottom from accidentally dropped hooks, knives, or heavy sinkers.
A keel is an inflatable compartment under the bottom that makes the boat’s bottom V-shaped. It is needed if you plan to use an engine with a power of more than 5 hp and go out on large rivers or reservoirs. The keel improves handling, helps cut through waves, and prevents the boat from “yawing” at speed.
Slat floor-book or rigid floor (plywood/aluminum): allow you to stand confidently in the boat and cast a spinning rod, but add weight and time for assembly.
Air-deck (high-pressure inflatable floor): is much lighter, gets ready for launching much faster, but requires careful handling with sharp objects.
